Nice Cream for the Win

You know what’s way better than low-cal, sugar-free, no flavor ice cream that’s trying too hard to be healthy? Homemade Banana Nut Butter Nice Cream!

I’ve seen multiple versions of this bad boy floating all over the internet, and I honestly don’t know what’s taken me so long to hop on the nice cream train. It’s creamy, delicious, savory, much healthier than regular ice cream, and no absolutely sacrifice in flavor! Oh and PS, ‘nana ice cream = nice cream.

This all-natural, 3 ingredient recipe is not only super easy to make, but it’s a fraction of the cost of those little factory-produced pints, and will leave your taste buds saying, “I can’t believe it’s not ice cream!”

What You’ll Need

Earlier this year, I scored a killer deal on this food processor.  A coworker was selling it, brand-new, never opened, for only $50. Best investment I ever made! I’m talking homemade hummus, protein energy bites, and now nice cream!

This one currently runs for about double the price on Amazon, but I have a little secret. In just 5 days, all of the incredible Memorial Day Sales will begin, and if I were you, I would add this to the top of my list!  Sears, Macy’s, Walmart, and Best Buy are just a few places you can find a high-quality food processor.

I’ve listed three different versions below, so you can compare prices/functionality by size. I personally have an 8-cup and feel it’s the perfect size!

This recipe is so easy, that it literally requires 3 ingredients, a food processor, and less than 10 minutes of your time.

Just remember to freeze your bananas ahead of time! I like to freeze mine in the morning so I can enjoy a treat at night, but they only take 1-2 hours to harden, so don’t worry if you forget!

 

Banana Nut Butter Nice Cream

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Cook time: 5 minutes
  • Total time: 10 minutes

Yields: 3 servings

Nice Cream 4

A deliciously savory all-natural, low-fat alternative to ice cream!

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 3 tbsp JIF All Natural Creamy Peanut Butter (or creamy nut butter of choice)
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
  1. Prep Ahead: Slice bananas, place in a freezer bag, and freeze overnight.
  2. Add frozen bananas to a high-powered food processor, stopping every 30 seconds to mix and push frozen pieces toward the blade.
  3. Once most of the large chunks are broken down, add peanut butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Continue processing the nice cream mixture for 30-60 second intervals until smooth and creamy, stopping to mix and assist with the frozen pieces. You may have to hand crush a couple of stubborn banana pieces.
  5. Once smooth and creamy, spoon into a bowl and add toppings of choice. Enjoy!

  3. I usually make smoothies with my frozen bananas and consume too much sugar way too fast. This is a great way to slow down & taste all that yummy. Probably took me longer to write this than it will to make it 🙂 Can’t wait.
