Why I Joined Maskcara Beauty

Why Maskcara?

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked to join a direct marketing sales team. Perhaps it’s my blog, or perhaps it’s my over-ambitious personality, but sometimes I think I’m wearing a sign that says, “Approach me about your business opportunity.”

And quite honestly, I take every single attempt at recruitment as a huge compliment. Up until now, I just haven’t resonated with any of these brands. There have been aspects that I appreciated, but there hasn’t been any one brand that I absolutely LOVED.

In addition, I never saw myself as the “sales-y” type and I definitely couldn’t see myself selling something I wasn’t truly passionate about.

But nonetheless, I have always been intrigued by the concept of MLM (multi-level marketing). As the daughter of an independent business owner, I feel a calling to be an entrepreneur.

Owning a business has provided my family with incredible flexibility and financial security in the best of times. But it also comes with obstacles and hurdles in the worst of times. With MLM, there is minimal financial upfront risk, and vast opportunity as you build. The commission + direct-line model rewards you for working harder AND smarter.

Most financially-savvy people understand that there are only so many hours in the day, and that the fastest way to grow your wealth is to make money while you sleep (aka build a team who works for you). Don’t worry, I’m not leaving my day job. I have an incredible career with wonderful benefits, but who wouldn’t want the opportunity to grow their network and income exponentially, all while sharing something you’re passionate about?

A few months ago, my best friend called me and told me about a new opportunity she had heard of. She wasn’t selling, she just knew about my closet MLM obsession.

One of her high school friends, who is a makeup blogger, had recently developed her own line of beauty products. It became incredibly successful, so shortly after, she opened the company up for direct sales.

I immediately said, “Makeup? I’m not really good at makeup. Why would this be a good fit?” Mind you, I hardly wore any makeup in college. Eyeshadow? Didn’t use it. Liquid liner? Too messy. Foundation? Not a clue. Since then, I’ve learned a thing or two. I’m now a VIB Beauty Insider at Sephora and truly appreciate quality product. But ultimately, I still prefer a more natural look.

“That’s the point,” she said, “It’s such a great concept. It’s makeup made easy. Makeup for people who aren’t professionals, but for women who want to look and feel beautiful, too. Her name is Cara and the line is called Maskcara. You HAVE to check it out. It’s just getting started.”

So I did. And unlike other MLM companies, I didn’t know one person who sold Maskcara. Which made it all the more intriguing. I kept my eyes open and one day I saw someone mention it on Instagram. And then another. And then I listened to an inspiring podcast featuring Cara, the Maskcara owner, who talked about her decision to open the company up for direct sales instead of pursuing brick and mortar retail. She explained how it brought her joy to reward the women who loved this product as much as she did, rather than filling the pockets of corporate CEO’s. And I knew I had to try it.

And guess what? I loved it!

Aside from the gorgeous packaging, I LOVE the makeup itself. The ingredients are all-natural, cruelty free and made locally in Southern Utah. It provides the perfect amount of coverage — not too heavy, but just enough for a natural, even finish and beautiful glow. It works on all ages and skin types, and is especially good at hiding my hormonal post-baby acne!

All Maskcara products are sold in individual tins, perfectly designed to fit side by side in beautifully-designed compacts. The product is multi-functional, saving you money AND decluttering your makeup bag. The blush is also a lip color. The illuminator can be used as eyeshadow. And instead of using primer, foundation, contour AND highlighter, you simply use one highlight and one contour. All products last 3+ months, some as long as 6.

I don’t know about you, but as a new mom, I barely have time to go to the grocery store, much less run to Sephora every time I run out of one item from my regimen. Thanks to Maskcara, I went from carrying over 10 products to only one compact and one brush.

Messy old makeup

But do you want to know the #1 thing that attracted me? It is so incredibly easy to apply. Literally anyone can achieve a beautiful, all-natural look in 5 minutes or less! After a few practice sessions with my sponsor, a plethora of resources, and a network of supportive women, I became an Artist within one week of trying Maskcara.

I am so thrilled to be working for one of the fastest growing companies in the country. As of today, the company is still in its infancy. On August 4th, I’ll be attending the official launch party with 2,000+ Maskcara artists and boss babes. And I couldn’t be more excited!

Brushes with Sprinkles

Friends and family, I promise I won’t hound you with sales propaganda or clutter your feed with marketing materials. But I do ask one thing. I would love to practice on your faces!

Have a hot date coming up? I’m your girl. Family photos? Sign me up. Maybe you just want to try something new? Or you’re looking for an easy routine? Holler at me! If you love the product like I do, great. If not, that’s ok, too. Thank you in advance for your support and for always cheering me on throughout my journey!
